Welcome to Neurotopical Therapy. I’m Amelia, and I use she/her or they/them pronouns. I am a senior social worker passionate about supporting autistic and neurodiverse people across their life span as they navigate their unique journeys. With an undergrad in social work, a graduate certificate in autism, and over 6 years of delivering therapeutic intervention, I founded Neurotopical Therapy to offer a space where clients can explore, learn, and celebrate who they are without pressure or pretence.
As an autistic individual myself, I understand that neurodiversity is not a condition to be fixed but a spectrum of unique perspectives and strengths to be appreciated. This insight drives my work, and I’m dedicated to providing a space where each person’s needs, interests, and identity are valued and respected. Therapy with me is less about “treatment” and more about discovery—gaining insight into what neurodivergence means for each individual and finding ways to thrive.
Therapy is a journey we embark on together, centred around education, exploration, and empowerment. I am deeply committed to a neurodiversity-affirming approach that honours each person's unique strengths and perspectives. Everyone deserves a safe, welcoming space to explore who they are and feel seen, supported, and celebrated. I aim to guide clients in uncovering insights, skills, and strategies that enrich their well-being and bring clarity to their path. Therapy here is about supporting each client at every stage of life—whether discovering new abilities as a child, understanding neurodiversity as a parent, or deepening one’s self-knowledge as an adult.
Across the life span, I can support by:
Young Children: Helping them build self-awareness, emotional skills, and communication tools.
Parents and Families: Guiding families to understand and support their neurodiverse child’s needs, strengths, and interests.
Teens and Adults: Supporting individuals exploring their neurodiverse identity, perhaps even for the first time as adults, and working together on self-acceptance, resilience, and life skills.
My professional ethics include respect for all persons, social justice and professional integrity. I value authenticity, creativity, kindness and collaboration.
Being in the LGBTQ+ community also gives me unique, lived experience of the frustration of finding services that service all my identities respectfully (and mean I don’t have to constantly education professionals!).
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my two dogs and heading to the beach. I also have a special interest in sewing, mythology, and all things spooky!
If working with me sounds like it could help you, I’d love to connect.
